Our grand opening celebration was a blast and we were thrilled to share it with our donors and friends in the community.

Festivities included a celebratory banquet, a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by politicians and Focus U.S. dignitaries, and a special community day that was open to the public.

If you were among the 1,100 people who visited during our community day, we hope you enjoyed the live entertainment, food, bouncy castles and more! This journey has been a testament of God’s faithfulness, and we were so happy to be able to experience it with you.

If you didn’t get a chance to visit, check out our grand opening photo gallery or take a virtual tour of our office.

Blessed by your financial and prayerful support, we have moved into our new home!  You have been a part of this journey from the beginning, and we want to celebrate God’s goodness together, with you.

Hello once again!  It’s now been 6 weeks since we moved into this gorgeous, bright, shiny new building and it’s feeling like home now. We are all enjoying it and have worked out the “new building bugs.” We feel very blessed to have such a wonderful home - many thanks to so many of you who partnered with us in making it happen - we appreciate you very much!

This past week our Distribution Centre (DC) and staff have moved into our new home as well.  We purposely did not try and move them along with the rest of the office as we didn’t want to disrupt our service to our constituents.  Moving the DC one month after our move resulted in limited constituent impact for which we are thankful.

The move went quickly and it went well. In no time, we were back up and running!  This team had been working in a separate warehouse, a few blocks from our old office, for the last 4 years so we are thrilled to have them reunited with us in the same building- we are a complete family once again!

The new DC square footage is less than what we had been renting but is being used in the most efficient ways possible..

I have included some before and after photos to give you an idea of what it all looks like!

So we are now all moved in and a complete "Focus Family" again! It feels good.

We are all moved in and are very excited to be here!  We are feeling spread out as the square footage has been increased by 30%, leaving lots of room for growth.  We have experienced some challenges along the way, as often come in any big move.  We hope to have most of these things worked out this week.

We still have trades working around us as they are adding the finishing touches.

Here are some photos now that we’re all moved in. Enjoy and thanks for enjoying this journey with me! I will post another update out as our Distribution Centre joins us here mid February.

An organization we are blessed to be a part of!

Moving day is almost upon us. Today is our last day in the office and everyone is busy working, packing, cleaning and enjoying our final moments in the big red building.

I was at the new head office this morning and what a transformation!  The furniture has been assembled and installed and it looks great.  Here is a sneak peak:

The next few days are crucial as TELUS is currently installing the phone system. Please pray for a seamless phone transition. We receive hundreds of calls every day, some of a very serious nature, so we must have our phones running well.

Our computer servers are being shut down at 5pm today and will be transported and installed in the building tonight.  So by the end of work today we will have packed up our memories and moved on.  On Monday the professional moving company comes and on Tuesday morning at the whole staff is going to gather outside the building to praise God for His goodness and bless the building with prayer.

I hope you have enjoyed the photos. Thank you for standing with us during this building process. I look forward to seeing all that God will accomplish through our new national head office.

I hope you had a very Merry Christmas!!

This morning during our time of prayer, Terence reminded us that this is our last week in our current office. Wow, it is hard to believe that we are really moving. We have been talking and praying about this for many years and it is finally happening!  I feel very excited and optimistic about the next year and I know God will do amazing things through our new head office.

Last Friday we passed our elevator inspection which was very timely as our furniture has just arrived.  It will take five days to assemble and install all the workstations, desks, shelving, and cubicles. There are still many trades working on the site and getting all the last minute work done so pray for their continued protection.

This is the central area right outside my office where the workstations will be installed in the next few days. The office in the far left of the photo belongs to president, Terence Rolston.  It looks very bleak and deserted right now but soon that’s going to change.

If you were to walk around the corner from my office towards the west side of the building this is what you would see.

This is what our staff lunchroom now looks like, a far cry from the photo I showed you two weeks ago.

The following photo shows the first tiles being laid in the main stairwell on the second floor.  As of today, he has only one flight of stairs left.

On Wednesday we have our final occupancy permit meeting with the building inspector.  He will inspect the building physically and if all goes well we will get approval on Friday.  We would seriously value your prayers for this approval as without it we cannot move in next week.

Have a great week my friends!

Merry Christmas from all of us at Focus on the Family Canada!

It is hard to believe that after months of perseverance and prayer we are nearing the completion of our new building. Everything is really coming together and we couldn’t have done it without your help. Thank you for standing with us in this exciting project and helping us expand our reach to families. I know this new home will serve as a cornerstone for this ministry for many years to come.

Hi again. As promised, here is part two of the building photos.  Let’s take a look at the inside:

This photo is taken on the second floor right by my office. It looks like it’s a long way from being finished but all it needs is a major clean up.

This is the staff lunchroom where we love to have much fellowship over food. We also will be meeting here every morning as a staff to pray for the many prayer requests we receive every day (we prayed for 16,000 last year).

Finally, this is our Distribution Centre on the first floor.

I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas.

God bless!

There have been so many changes since my last update that I decided to split my post into two separate entries, today the outside of the building and tomorrow the inside. Here goes:

As you can see, our signage is now up and the landscaping is well underway. It looks very sharp!

This is the view from the 3rd floor patio looking south toward 80th avenue.  The gravel down below is where the boardroom patio will be.

Doesn’t it look great? Stay tuned for my next update for a sneak peak at the inside of the building.

Monday, November 8, 2010 - 12:00am

I braved the rain to visit the building site today and was really impressed by how everything is coming together. The first coat of paint has been applied, the glass around the staircase has been installed and the trim is in place—it is looking sharp!

On the exterior of the building the landscapers have been hard at work spreading soil, planting trees and installing the lawn. They have also finished the concrete steps along the ornamental creek where the parking lot runoff comes out.

Here are some photos:

Have a great week!

Debt Free!

We are incredibly blessed to report that 100% of the funding needed to complete the building has been raised!

To move in debt free is indeed a miracle and confirmation from God that we are following His plan to serve Canadian families.

Thank you so very much for the role you played!
