Why build now?

With a strong team in place and a renewed vision to help families thrive, we believe we need to expand in order to respond to the growing needs of families in Canada. Due to the vision and foresight of our board of directors, Focus Canada purchased a piece of land a number of years ago and recent events have created the opportunity for us to start building our own home.

Until now we have leased space, but our lease is up and we have outgrown our existing space. In addition, building costs have dropped and eliminating lease costs means we can invest that money back into ministry. We are convinced that God has brought all of these events together to enable us to serve families even more effectively and to have the capacity we need to grow.

How much will you save annually in lease costs?

If we can move in debt-free, we will be able to direct up to $400,000 annually back into ministry that would have otherwise been required to cover lease costs.

Where will the new office be located?

Our new home will be located in Langley, British Columbia, just off 200 Street and 80 Avenue, near the TransCanada Highway (Hwy 1).

Why Langley?

Our current head office is located in Langley and so many of the staff live close by. Staying in the vicinity was a priority so families did not need to relocate. We also wanted a location that was visible within the community and easily accessible to passersby.

What is the size of the building?

The building will cover 24,000 square feet over three floors.

Can the building expand for future growth?

Yes. The building is designed to provide up to 7,500 square feet (or 30 per cent) more office space.

What is the total project cost?

The total project cost, including the land purchase, is $8.5 million.

Are you financing the building?

Our desire is to finish the building debt-free. Because some donations have been received as multi-year pledges, it may be necessary to obtain some bridge financing. However, we are praying in faith that financing won’t be necessary.

Are you leasing out any space in the building?

No. It was the board’s desire to keep costs to a minimum and to not over-build. As a result, the building has been designed to provide the additional space required to accomplish our vision and to give us the needed capacity to grow.
