Read about how it all began:
Our journey toward owning our own office began more than eight years ago when Focus Canada moved from Vancouver to Langley, BC. Our board of directors considered building an office at that time, but it was as if God was saying “not yet.”
In 2004, when our lease was up for renewal, the board once again considered building an office – but still, the timing was not right. However, through this process, we found a great piece of land and remarkably, God provided the funds for it in advance. We purchased the land in faith and have since been waiting on His leading before moving forward in the building process.
Finally, in 2008, the board felt it was time to move forward, trusting that God would provide the funds necessary for us to build. We drew up a plan and, in a step of faith, began to share it with a few donors whom we hoped would partner with us on this project.
As of the fall of 2009, we had received more that 75 per cent of the funds necessary to complete our new home! Then we received some exciting news: one donor, who wanted to encourage others to give, generously pledged a $1 million matching grant towards our new home. This was a huge component in completing the funding for the building.
God was incredibly faithful over the next few years as we met with donors and invited fellow Canadians to join with us on this venture. We are overjoyed to report that, on January 18, 2011, the staff of Focus on the Family Canada moved into the new office debt-free! This was an extraordinary blessing and another remarkable answer to prayer. Our expectations were far exceeded and we are very thankful to all who have partnered with us.
As we reflect on all that has happened, we can see how God has been guiding us through each stage of this journey. We have had to trust Him and He has provided for us abundantly.
For more information on the journey to our new home, please read Terence Rolston’s letter to our constituents in March 2011.
We are incredibly blessed to report that 100% of the funding needed to complete the building has been raised!
To move in debt free is indeed a miracle and confirmation from God that we are following His plan to serve Canadian families.
Thank you so very much for the role you played!
